You've got it all figured out, you know how to profit off of those below. You're buying assets and selling your soul, and you're thinking it's a quid pro quo. You got a young wife and a fancy car, a finished basement with a mini-bar. You're the Bay Street superstar. But that shit won't get you far, 'cause in the end it won't mean anything, and in the end you won't have anything. Because outside the nine to five, your 'daily grind' that keeps your pockets lined you'll find it's all about the people by your side.

Hangin' out at the record store, picking out a few vinyls or more. Pay cheques meant for rent bought me ten more full-lengths. Run on home to check the board, toss my records on the floor. No good news today, just a new blog from BK - top ten lists and drunken whiskey stories. Grab my guitar and write two lousy songs. We all make plans for when we're older. I never aspired to work things out, for me nothing ever works out. I guess I've learned not to give a shit. 'Cause drunken times and sleepless nights, dreaming never felt so right. Don't tell me to grow up, I'm just living while I'm young. I could never understand why people wanna back-track through their lives. We all make plans for when we're older. I never aspired to work things out, for me nothing ever works out. I guess I've learned not to give a shit. 'Cause drunken times and sleepless nights, dreaming never felt so right.

Consumerism breeds complacency which removes the need for repression. This gives us a false sense that we're free, and keeps us from asking questions like 'who can I trust in a world that's dominated by companies whose CEOs I don't vote and whose primary goal is selling shit to me?'. And I guarantee that we don't think twice about the Coke and the rice that Strummer told us was Bamboo Kid's blood, ignoring the fact that our first world peace might mean that conflict sustains us. It gives us progress in the form of flashy garbage. And still we got PR working on the ad campaign for the apex of evolution. Given the food on my table and the clothes on my back, who the fuck needs a revolution or any other solution? Cause see it's like an addiction: we don't get a sufficient amount of the things we really need, and so they keep us coming back for more; that's how they succeed. My only advice to you: don't let them break you.

Losing focus, I'm losing focus now. Too many distractions, I don't know how I'll be able to concentrate. The hands are pointing late. The date is set, but no, I'm not giving up yet. Sing for tomorrow - a clearer mind to pick up where we left off. These songs are far postponed. Memories of when we used to play in my backyard all day. Now you've moved on and faded away, only myself to blame. Too busy to hang, I wish things could be the same. Sing for tomorrow - a clearer mind to pick up where we left off. Oh no, our hangouts are far postponed. I always put things off too late, I think it's time for a clean slate.

I've seen my town bursting at the seams. It seems it used to seem so small, now it seems empty. It's a vacuum, a fucking pit. I used to have a place, and now I don't have shit. I used to have a scheme and I had the will, the strength to keep going, but somehow I'm still searching for a home, via Ontario. Now I don't know where I'm going; I don't know where I'm from. I've got no bearings. And I can't believe the zeros to which we've succumbed. A man should be buried in his native earth, not shown estimates of its net worth. 150 years since they built the mill, and now the pond's drying up and I'm fucking still searching for a home, via Ontario.

about

Tracks 1-5 of this EP (what we initially intended to be the entire project) were recorded live off the floor at Audiolab in Toronto with Chris Hegge engineering. It was the first thing we did together as a band, and the songs are rough and the performances sketchy. Spencer Kopera played drums. Scotty from Death to False Hope Records contacted us shortly after we put it together and he put it up for free download on his website, with the addition of a bonus acoustic song. It's free here, but we think you should check out that website anyway because it has a ton of cool shit. Mike Wiseman helped Duffer, Mark, and Scott with gang vocals. Whoever sings lead wrote the song.
